WILLIAM W. PHILLIPS


 

 

WILLIAM W. PHILLIPS, of Chesaning, 87, passed away late Wednesday afternoon, April 1, 2020 at Pleasant View Medical Care Facility, Owosso. William was born in St. Charles, Mo. on May 2, 1932, the son of the late Earnest Clair and Eva Calista (Huntly) Phillips. He had resided in Chesaning for the last 44 years. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Korean War era. He was united in marriage to Helen Miller on November 4, 1977. Mr. Phillips retired in 1995 from Delco Marine with 37 years seniority. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Chesaning, American Legion Post #212 of Chesaning, and the UAW He enjoyed playing cards, watching sports, especially baseball, dancing, and sitting under the tree. William loved being around people and spending time with his family. He had run in the Boston Marathon.

Those left to cherish William’s memory include his beloved wife, Helen; children, Jerry (Annette) Blakeslee, Fred Blakeslee, Julie Phillips-Ewell, Rob (Dana) Blakeslee, Pete (Kelly) VanWagner, and Mindi Lund; grandchildren, Brandi, Jennifer, and Jerry II Blakeslee, Tyler, Jacob, and Kaylee Blakeslee, Matt and Ryan Blakeslee, Tristan VanWagner, Morgan Warner, Connor and Cayden Whiteherse, Billy, Brooke, and Bridgette Ewell; great-grandchildren, Porter, Elizabeth, Levi, Oliver, Julianna, Leland, and Blake; and many nieces and nephews. William was preceded in death by his three brothers, Eugene, Frank, and Robert; a sister, Gertrude; and several nieces and nephews.
