On Tuesday, Oct. 19, contractors work on replacement of the watermain under Washington Street near M-57 in downtown Montrose. On Thursday, Oct. 21, the Montrose City Council held a public hearing to approve the assessment and assessment roll for the street improvement project. City Manager Neil Rankin said the city is covering the cost of engineering and watermain replacement. The cost of the curb, gutter and street repair totals $44,000 and will be assessed on the three property owners with frontage on that block. Montrose United Methodist Church will be assessed $22,615.91; Conlee Oil Company’s share is $14,134.95 and Sunz Out Investments is $7,281.64. These assessments can be paid over the next 10 years.
