GOVERNMENT MEETINGS

MARION TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 3, in the township hall, 11925 S. Merrill Road.

CHESANING VILLAGE COUNCIL will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, in the council chambers at the village office, 218 N. Front St.

ST. CHARLES TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet on Monday, June 3 at 7 p.m. in the township hall, 1003 N. Saginaw St., St. Charles.

SWAN CREEK TOWNSHIP PLANNING COMMISSION will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, at the township hall, 11415 Lakefield Road, St. Charles.

BRADY TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the township hall, 16020 W. Peet Road, Oakley.

CLUBS AND CIVIC GROUPS

MONTROSE HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION members will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, June 3, at the Montrose Historical and Telephone Pioneer Museum, 144 E. Hickory St.

MONTROSE MASONIC LODGE #428 will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at the Lodge, 130 Parkway St.

• The ST. CHARLES LIONS CLUB meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month from September through June at 6 p.m. at the St. Charles District Library, 132 S. Saginaw St., St. Charles. Meetings vary in July and August.

• The ST. CHARLES HISTORICAL MUSEUM, 603 Chesaning St., is open Tuesdays from noon to 2 p.m.; Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m.; and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon.

GLEANER’S TRI-COUNTY ARBOR #768 of Montrose will meet on Thursday, June 6 at 6 p.m. at the Montrose Railroad Depot. The public is welcome.

• The CHESANING AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY will meet on

Monday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the Chesaning Historical Museum, 602 W. Broad St. The program will be on the history of the museum, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary.

FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP

• There will be a COMMUNITY SUPPER on the second Saturday of each month from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 Brady St., Chesaning. No reservations are needed and there is no cost. The supper is open to all. Those in need of a ride should call (989) 845- 3157 Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

SUPPORT GROUPS

HUNTINGTON’S DISEASE SUPPORT GROUP meets on Thursday, June 6 from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Saginaw Township Hall. Call (989) 835-9933 for information.

SENIOR CITIZENS

• The MARION TOWNSHIP SENIOR CITIZENS meet the first Monday of each month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a potluck dinner at the Marion Township Hall. All senior citizens are welcome. For more information, call 643-2201 or 643-5635.

• The First United Methodist Church of New Lothrop, 7495 Orchard St., will hold a SENIOR POTLUCK on Tuesday, June 4 at noon. Stop in and share food, fellowship, fun and bingo.

ODDS AND ENDS

• The Memorial Healthcare Auxiliary will be hosting a QD SCRUB SHOE SALE on Tuesday, June 11 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Memorial Healthcare South Auditorium in Owosso. Proceeds from this event will benefit future hospital projects. The event features trendy, comfortable medical shoes, socks and accessories. Choose from popular name brands such as Cherokee, Dansko, and KLOGS

for comfort and style all day long. Cash, checks, credit/ debit cards, and payroll deduction for qualified Memorial Healthcare employees will be accepted.

• The St. Charles District Library, 132 S. Saginaw St., will be holding SUMMER BOOK SALES on Thursday, June 20 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Thursday, Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Donations are $3 per bag, with bags provided. CHURCHES

ST. CHARLES SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST COMMUNITY CENTER is open the first and third Thursday of every month from 6:30 until 8 p.m. The center is located at the corner of Clinton and Marcy Streets in St. Charles, and serves those who are in need of gently used clothing, household items and furniture (when available). The center also accepts donations of gently used clothing, household items and furniture. Interested persons should stop by if they need assistance or have any questions.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

• The Memorial Healthcare Community Wellness, Nutrition and Diabetes Center will be presenting A PRE-DIABETES CLASS on Monday, June 3 and June 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. Participants will learn how to prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes through healthy behavior changes. Memorial Healthcare Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator, Marla Price, will be the presenter for this event. The class will be held at the Memorial Healthcare Community Wellness, Nutrition and Diabetes Center at 317 S. Elm St., Suite 202, Owosso. This class is free, because of Foundation Funds from the Merry Market Place fundraiser. Pre-registration is required by calling (989) 729-4700.

• In recognition of National Cancer Survivor Day, Memorial Healthcare in Owosso will be hosting its annual CANCER SURVIVOR DAY celebration on Thursday, June 6. This free event will be held at Memorial’s Medical Arts Building, 721 N. Shiawassee St. in Owosso (at the corner of King Street and M-52) from 1 to 3 pm. Activities will include an ice cream social, recognition ceremony, guest speakers, raffle, live music, and more. A cancer survivor is anyone living with a history of cancer – from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life. Memorial Healthcare extends an invitation to everyone who has been touched by a cancer diagnosis, including family, friends and caregivers to join in this special occasion. • Memorial Healthcare in Owosso and the Michigan State University Extension program invite area adults to participate in the COOKING FOR ONE PROGRAM. This six week, two hours each Monday class offers adults the opportunity to learn ways to make cooking for one simple and enjoyable. Each class focuses on key topics: Learn helpful tips and tricks to making healthy choices, like eating well and being active; and participate in cooking real recipes for one. Classes begin Monday, June 17 and will meet for the next six Mondays from 1 to 3 p.m. This program will be held at the Memorial Healthcare Community Wellness, Nutrition and Diabetes Center in the Woodard Building (North Entrance), 317 S. FOOD PANTRIES

• There will be FOOD DISTRIBUTION on the second Saturday of each month behind Trinity United Methodist Church in Chesaning. Service will be at 4:30 p.m. with distribution at 5 p.m.
