Tribe girls seventh, boys eighth at Birch Run XC invite

TAYMOUTH TWP. – Chesaning’s cross country teams ran at the Birch Run Fall Invitational at Taymouth Township Park on Tuesday, Oct. 2.

Chesaning’s girls finished seventh with 190 points. The Indians were led by Julia Skaryd who had her best race of the year to finish fifth in 20:19. Karlie Lewis medaled at 28th with a personal-best 22:49. Preslee Slankard, returning from an injury, finished in 23:36. Serena Escamilla ran in a personal-best 24:42. Julia Lewis rounded out the scoring positions for the Tribe with a 25:12 finish.

Also running were Kennedy McAlpine (32:15), Maddie Schulte (32:17), and Lizzy Davis (32:30).

Chesaning’s boys finished eighth with 233 points. Jaden James led the Tribe, finishing 15th in 19:08. Kaden Liebrock finished in a personal-best 19:50. Addison James also had a personal-best time of 20:15. Dakota Sutter (20:48), David Shuell (21:28) and Nicholas Healey (22:13) also recorded personal-best times.

Also running for the Indians were Tristan Metzger (22:34), Andrew Sadilek (24:09), and Hunter Lapine (25:40).

“I am proud of the improvement each of these athletes have shown over the course of the season, continuing to improve both individually and as a team at each meet,” said Chesaning coach Dylan Harrington.

The Indians travel to Uncle John’s Cider Mill, north of St. Johns, on Wednesday, Oct. 10 for the last Mid-Michigan Activities Conference jamboree.
