MAPLE GROVE TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, in the township hall, 17010 Lincoln Road.

MONTROSE TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21 in the Township Hall, 11444 Seymour Road.

CHESANING VILLAGE COUNCIL will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, in the council chambers at the village office, 1100 W. Broad Street.


• The SHIAWASSEE QUILTERS meet on the third Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Owosso Senior Center, 300 N. Washington St. Some of their activities include making charity quilts, quilt speakers, trunk shows, round robins, mystery quilts, prizes, free fat quarters, and tips of the months.

• The TAYMOUTH TOWNSHIP HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION meets on the third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Taymouth Township Library, 2361 E. Burt Road, Burt.


• The Memorial Healthcare free DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP

VENDORS ARE WANTED for a crafts bazaar to be held Saturday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 W. Brady Road, Chesaning. The cost is $20 for an eight foot space, $25 after Oct. 6, $5 less if vendor brings his or her own table. To register, contact Dianne Stanuszek at (989) 865-9709.

• Vendors are wanted for a FALL CRAFT BAZAAR to be held on Saturday, Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Oakley Village Hall, 205 Parshall St., Oakley. The event is being organized by the Oakley Community Church Ladies’ Ministry. Tables are $15. NEW LOTHROP AREA PUBLIC SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, for a regular meeting in the High School Library, 9285 Easton Rd., New Lothrop.

ST. CHARLES COMMUNITY SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, in the Central Administration board room, 891 W. Walnut Street, St. Charles.


• On Blueberry Saturday, Aug. 18, the Montrose Order of the Eastern Star will be serving HOMEMADE FOOD AND HOLDING A BAKE SALE at the Temple, 130 Parkway St. in Montrose. A breakfast buffet will be served from 7 to 11 a.m., featuring pancakes, eggs cooked to order, sausage and beverage. The cost is $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 6-12, and free for those under age 6. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with hot dogs, chips, popcorn, cookies, pop and water available, individually priced.

• Nativity Lutheran Church, 625 W. Clinton St., St. Charles, will hold a PIG ROAST and silent auction on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 1 to 5 p.m.


• Montrose United Methodist Church will host a ladies’ SPIRITUAL RENEWAL called “Step into the Water” on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A light lunch will be provided. The aim of the seminar is finding deep water faith for today’s struggles, and hope for the future. Those planning to attend must reserve a seat by Thursday, Sept. 20, by emailing Kathy Phillips at kphillips9788@gmail.com or texting (810) 336-3450. There is no cost. The seminar will be held at the church, 158 E. State St., Montrose.


• Memorial Healthcare and the Michigan State University Extension program invite area adults to participate in the COOKING MATTERS FOR ADULTS program. This six-week, two-hours-each Thursday class offers participants an opportunity to learn how to shop for and cook healthy meals on a limited budget. This course is taught by a highly trained MSU Extension nutrition educator who will cover everything from preparation, grocery shopping, food budgeting, and nutrition. At the end of each class participants will gain the skills and confidence to make healthy, budget-friendly meals for their family and will receive groceries to take home. Each class focuses on key topics: Selecting nutritious foods; Preparing healthy foods; Choosing budget-friendly recipes; Students will make a recipe in class. Classes begin Thursday, Aug. 23 and will meet for the next six Thursdays from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Memorial Healthcare Community Wellness, Nutrition and Diabetes Center in the Woodard Building (North Entrance), 317 S. Elm St., Ste. 202. There is no cost for this program, but pre-registration is required by Tuesday, Aug. 21. To register, call Memorial Healthcare at: (989) 729-4700.


• A free community GUITAR CLASS will be held on Tuesdays beginning Sept. 4 until May, except for holidays, at 331 S. Clark St. This is the third year these lessons have been taught. Beginners’ class is from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m., advanced is from 6:15 to 7 p.m., and harpstyle is from 7 to 7:45 p.m. All are welcome to attend. • There will be a CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association on Sunday, Sept. 23, beginning at 2 p.m. at the Maple Grove Township Park. • The Chesaning Young at Heart Club is sponsoring a TURKEYVILLE BUS TRIP on Saturday, Nov. 10. The group will see a show entitled “Christmas Again.” Interested persons can sign up at the Chesaning Senior Center, 218 Church St. To prevent cancellation, at least 40 reservations are required.
