Tribe sackers reach district title game before losing to STC

HEMLOCK – Chesaning’s varsity baseball team beat Ithaca, 9-1, in a district semi-final game on June 2 before losing to St. Charles in the championship game, 11-1.

Noah Rieder tossed a three-hit gem against the Yellowjackets in the first game of the district tourney hosted by Hemlock as eight different Indians registered one hit apiece.

Kohl Qualls put the Indians ahead in the first inning with a RBI hit while Rieder and Michael James both had key hits in the four-run fifth frame by CHS.

Also getting hits in the semis were Will Guzinski, Jacob Turnwald, Brendan Greenfelder, Garrett Powell and Cole Higley.

The Tribe’s bats were quiet in the title contest as Higley and Turnwald had the only hits for Chesaning.

The Indians finish the 2018 campaign with a 13-16-1 overall record.
