Lady Indians place eighth at Division 4 state tennis finals

NOVI - Chesaning’s girls’ tennis team finished eighth out of 24 teams at the Division 4 state tournament played on June 1 at Novi High School.

Anna Bates, Brooke Keck, Abbey Bitterman, Jadyn Mathis and Katelyn Ferry all reached the quarterfinals for CHS in the tourney won by Bloomfield Hills Sacred Heart.

The eighth-place finish betters last year’s showing for the Tribe, which placed 14th in 2017.

The Lady Indians finished the 2018 regular season as undefeated TVC champions.

“The tournament completes a very successful and enjoyable season,” said Chesaning coach Tom Teal. “Chesaning won the Tri-Valley Conference with an undefeated showing in conference play. The play of our seniors was outstanding, and we will miss them in the future. Prospects for the future remain good with a large group of returning players.”

Team members were seniors Bates, Casey Hartt, Kaylynn Princinsky, Keck, Caleigh Amman and Marra Sadilek; juniors Brook Miller, Mathis, Ferry, Bretlyn Warner and Tina Chen; and sophomores, Bitterman, Eve Griffin and Stephanie Coon.
