With graduation day fast approaching, I would like to address our Class of 2018. My memories of this class include the bonds you made throughout your time at New Lothrop High School. Even though several of you did not start your academic career in New Lothrop, as I look back, I am amazed at how you treated one another with kindness and care from the first day of school your seventh grade year. The transition of new students into a new school was seamless and the group had become one in a very short time. In addition, I have enjoyed our conversations about entrepreneurship and innovation. You have set high goals and aspirations for yourselves, and I for one, cannot wait to see what comes out of them. That is why I will remember this group of graduates as the “Class of Innovators.” Now, fast forward six years; soon your family and friends will watch you walk across the stage to receive your high school diploma. Although I want you to experience and accomplish all your goals, it is still sad for me to see your class go. Six years have come and gone; now begins the next chapter of your lives.

My hope is that we have given each of you the foundation you need to be successful after you leave us. With all the accolades you have earned, the most important and meaningful experience for us is to see each of you succeed after you leave and fulfill the potential that we all know you are capable of achieving. Watching each of you grow and mature has been a humbling experience for all of the staff. Each of you has left a mark on New Lothrop with your personalities and character you have exemplified in and out of the classroom. I want to personally thank each one of you. On behalf of the staff of New Lothrop Area Public Schools, we congratulate you on this great accomplishment and wish you all the very best in whatever path you decide to take. This is not goodbye; graduation is merely a celebration of what you have accomplished so far, with the anticipation of greater things to come. Remember to pass on what you have learned, work hard, and know that we are always here for you. Set your sights high, because this is only the beginning. Congratulations to the Class of 2018 and enjoy this moment you have earned and deserve.

As a district and community, we applaud our students’ efforts and achievements at all levels. We take great pride in making sure we offer the best education possible to our students in the classroom and through our extra-curricular activities. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. My office phone number is (810) 638-5091.
