NL Masonic Lodge offers free children ID kits

NEW LOTHROP – A free child identification program for children will be held Monday, May 7 at New Lothrop Elementary from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The program, hosted by the Hugh McCurdy Masonic Lodge #381, is provided in part, through the school’s kindergarten registration, according to organizers.

The program will provide a free dental impression as well as a CD containing a photo, video, digital fingerprints and the child’s vital information. This information meets all requirements for the Amber Alert System.

Parents or guardians must be present and fill out a permission slip; children who have already received the service are encouraged to have their kits updated every two years.

The Michigan Child Identification Program has provided this service to over 70,000 Michigan children since 2005. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children considers the Michigan Child Identification Program one of the most comprehensive of its kind, organizers said.
