STC girls dispatch Saginaw in six

ST. CHARLES – The Bulldog varsity softball squad had a quick afternoon on Thursday, April 12, beating visiting Saginaw High 19-0, 18-0 in a combined six innings.

In the opener, the Lady Bulldogs put up 14 runs in the first and five in the second to dispatch the Trojans.

Peyton Volk got the win on the mound. She yielded no hits, runs or walks while fanning seven in three innings of work.

Allison Duranso powered the Bulldog offense, scoring two runs off two hits, including a grand slam homer and a double, and driving in six RBI.

Hannah Kushion went 3 for 3 with three runs and three stolen bases. Volk aided her cause, going 2 for 2 with three runs, three RBI and two stolen bases.

Shelby Grunas went 3 for 3, including a double and a home run, with two RBI. Payton Parrish was also 3 for 3 with three runs, three stolen bases and two RBI. Kelsea Coty went 3 for 3 with a double, three RBI and three stolen bases. Grace Douglas had a hit with two runs and a stolen base. Allison Pries had a double with a RBI and a stolen base.

In the nightcap, the St. Charles girls put up 15 runs in the first inning and three in the second.

Duranso handled the pitching duties, walking one and retiring eight in three innings.

Mack Hilden went 2 for 2 at the plate, both doubles, scoring twice, driving in four more runs and stealing two bags.

Grunas had three runs scored off two hits, including a double, with a RBI and three stolen bases. Duranso had two hits with two runs and six stolen bases. Douglas had a hit, scoring two runs, stealing four bases. Coty had two hits, four stolen bases and a run.

Kushion walked twice, scoring two runs and stealing six bases. Kendall Pahl also walked twice, scoring a pair of runs and grabbing three extra bases. Macy Burke had a hit and two walks, scoring a run and driving in another, to go with a stolen base. Addy Stimac and Sydney Miller also each scored a run. Miller had two stolen bases and Stimac had one.

The Bulldogs are 3-1 on the young season.
