Lady Bulldogs split with Cavs

The St. Charles JV softball team opened its season on Tuesday, April 10 at home against Carrollton. The Cavaliers took the opener 13-5, but the Bulldogs won the nightcap 7-6.

“The girls played tough in both games and never gave up,” said St. Charles coach Ashley Schlager.

Mea Syed and Emily Duranso pitched the first game. Brennyn Wazny, Bri Kocis, Madison Browne and Hailey Grunas all had hits. Addy Stimac swatted a double to left field which resulted in a home run off of errors.

“In the second game, everyone hit the ball hard, was aggressive on the bases, and this was truly a team win as everyone contributed on both offense and defense,” said Schlager.

Kocis was credited with a great game on the mound, with a solid defense behind her.

Grunas had a triple and three RBI. Kocis and Dreja Snelenberger each had a double. Abby Kolb had a sacrifice bunt to move a runner into scoring position. Duranso, Stimac, Wazny, Browne and Syed all had hits.

Bulldog nine win opener

The St. Charles JV baseball squad opened the season with a 9-0 win over Carrollton on Tuesday, April 10.

The Bulldogs got solid pitching from Haden Nothelfer and Tyler Gengler, backed up by clean defense.

At the plate, Collin Brabant was 2 of 3 with two doubles and two RBI. Drake McFarland and Gengler each went 2 for 4.

In the nightcap, the score was tied 1-1 until the bottom of the fourth when the Bulldogs gave up some untimely walks and had a few errors, causing them to trail 6-1 when the game was called in that inning.

Jalen Fear led the offense, going 1 of 2 at the plate with a RBI.
