NL softball drops pair to ‘Muth

FRANKENMUTH – New Lothrop’s varsity softball team dropped a pair of contests at Frankenmuth last Thursday, 14-4 and 15-3, despite a solid day at the plate by Alyssa Schnell.

Schnell blasted a home run in Game One and went 2 for 3 with a run scored in the nightcap.

Paige Bishop absorbed the loss on the slab in the opener, going five innings and striking out four ‘Muth hitters in the process. Raegan Sharp threw the first two innings in the finale before Emma Muron came on in relief in the third.

Charleigh Birchmeier, Julia Martin and Joely Angst each had a hit in the first game while Haley Birchmeier was a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate in Game Two with a run scored. Muron added a hit for NL in the second contest.

The Lady Hornets were hurt by five errors on defense in both games.
