Lady Hornets mercy Mt. Morris

New Lothrop’s varsity softball girls opened their season with a doubleheader shellacking of Mt. Morris on Tuesday, April 10.

The Lady Hornets took the opener in three innings, 15-0. Paige Bishop got the win, allowing three hits and striking out four in her three innings of work.

Emma Muron was hit by a pitch three times, scoring three runs and grabbing four stolen bases.

Julia Martin went 2 for 2 with a walk, a triple, a double and three runs scored. Charleigh Birchmeier also went 2 for 2 with a walk, a home run and a double. Alyssa Schnell was 2 for 2 with a walk and a double.

The Hornets finished with 12 hits and 10 walks in the game.

In the nightcap, the Lady Hornets came away with a 17-2 win in five innings.

Raegan Sharp got the nod on the mound. She allowed three hits and struck out three in five innings.

Martin went 3 for 3 with a walk and four runs scored. Muron went 2 for 2 with a walk and six stolen bases. Schnell swatted a home run. Aleya Olk went 2 for 2. Veronica Moody went 3 for 4. Birchmeier went 2 for 2.

New Lothrop finished with 15 hits and 10 walks in the game.
