Lady Bulldogs split with Cavs

The St. Charles varsity diamondgirls opened their season on Tuesday, April 10 with a split against Carrollton. The Cavaliers took the opener, but the Bulldogs came back to win the nightcap 6-5 in the bottom of the sixth.

“It was a total team effort,” said St. Charles coach Mandy Volk.

Payton Parrish got the win on the mound. She gave up five runs, three of them earned, off eight hits with four walks and seven strike-outs in six and two-thirds innings of work.

Parrish also helped her cause at the plate, swatting a home run. She also had a RBI.

Allison Duranso had two hits, including a double, and two stolen bases.

Kendall Pahl and Shelby Grunas each had three hits and a RBI, with Pahl stealing a base. Hannah Kushion had two hits, two runs and a RBI. Mack Hilden, Grace Douglas and Syndey Miller each had a hit, with Douglas grabbing a stolen base and Miller driving in a run.
