CHESANING – The Chesaning Kiwanis Club will host the fourth annual Kids Spring Sucker Tournament, Saturday, April 21, along the shoreline of Chesaning’s Showboat Park.

Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. with fishing from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The cost is $5 per child, which includes prize drawings at the end of the contest, as well as cash prizes for the longest fish in both age groups; ages 9 and under, and 10 to 16.

Cash prizes to each age groups based on overall length of the fish. First prize is $100, second prize is $75 and third prize is $50. Plus, there are so many drawing prizes that usually, every child wins something. Last year’s fishing tournament drew 274 kids and their families to have fun and possibly win one of the many prizes donated by local businesses.

Night crawlers will be available for purchase at $2 per dozen.

The Kiwanis Club of Chesaning has agreed to operate the community events previously run by Chesaning Parks and Recreation, with many of the same volunteers coordinating these events. The events include the Kids Spring Sucker Tournament, Kiwanis 5K Run4Kids (July 15) and Halloween Camping (Sept. 28-30).
