Red-hot Hornet cagers steamroll LakeVille, 64-27

OTISVILLE – New Lothrop’s varsity boys’ basketball team is on a roll.

The red-hot Hornets won their eighth contest out of their last nine tries last Friday night as they hammered host LakeVille, 64-27.

Friday’s win capped off a great week for NL as they added to wins over league-leading Atherton on Monday and over Byron on Tuesday.

Nick Johnson added to his prolific offensive numbers this season by pouring in a career-high 35 points. Johnson swished six three-pointers in the process along with dishing out several assists.

Avery Moore added nine points for NL, Jacob Graves scored seven and Bryce Richardson finished with six. Kollin Lienau and Bryce Lienau each scored three points and Trevor Bishop completed the scoring for NL with a made free throw.

“Our defense was really good tonight as we pressured them all over the court and we were able to get a lot of easy baskets off their turnovers,” said NL coach Brady Simons, whose squad is now 10-5 overall. “We are playing our best basketball of the season and we just want to take this momentum moving forward over the remainder of the season and into the districts.”
