Lady Hornets clip Falcons for 16th straight cage win

OTISVILLE – New Lothrop’s varsity girls’ basketball team cruised to its 16th straight win last Friday by dismantling host LakeVille, 61-9.

Caitlyn Bruff led all scorers with 16 points, including a pair of triples. Brooke Wenzlick chipped in with eight markers.

Samantha Kulhanek and Lauryn Tithof each scored seven points for NL while Alex Bedrosian and Malary Thorsby split a dozen markers.

Sydney Pope and Maddie Kulhanek each scored four points for the Lady Hornets, who led by a 48-3 count at intermission, and Charleigh Birchmeier completed the scoring for the visitors with three points.

“Our girls brought good energy and effort tonight and they defended well and passed well,” assessed NL coach James Perry, whose team is 16-1 overall. “Sam Kulhanek made hustle plays like she has all year with nine steals. Now we have a big week ahead of us with three games coming up and we are looking to finish strong heading into the play-offs.”
