Trio shines for Tribe matmen at Ithaca

ITHACA – Chesaning’s varsity wrestlers boasted three champions at the Ithaca Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 20.

Colton Juillett, Jordan Rodriguez and Dawson Giesken each won their weight class for the Indians. Five others placed on the day as Chesaning finished sixth out of 14 teams.

At 103 lbs., Juilliet won over Zach Duncan of Grayling by injury default.

At 112 lbs., Rodriguez pinned Andrew Webster of Marlette in 3:48 of their finals bout.

At 119 lbs., Giesken posted an 8-5 decision over Andrew Hopkins of Grayling.

Jake Stevenson placed third for the Indians at 160 lbs. He won a 13-3 major decision over Parker Dole of Grayling in the consolation finals.

Jordan Goward won an 8-3 decision over Login Juhas of Ithaca in the consolation finals to take third at 215 lbs.

At 125 lbs., Jaden Aguado finished fifth with a pin of Cameron Harrison of Ithaca in their consolation match.

At 135 lbs., Collin Rodriguez pinned Bylan Cook of Marlette to finish fifth.

Nick Vargas was sixth at 140 lbs. after getting pinned by Jacob Breault of Gladwin in their finals bout.
