Book Discussion Group: Our selection for the February book discussion is The Orphan’s Tale by Pamela Jenoff. Stop by the library and pick up a copy then join us on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. for discussion and refreshments!

In-Stitches Knitting Group: Our knitting group continues to meet on the second Saturday of each month.

Family Movies: River Rapids Library hosts its Family Movie Day the first Saturday of each month. Patrons are encouraged to wear comfy clothes and bring their own pillows and blankets. Popcorn and drinks will be provided.

February Workshop: Alternative to Adobe Illustrator will be held on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. We will introduce you to free alternatives to Illustrator and show you how to make your own greeting cards just in time for Valentine’s Day. Registration is required for this class.

Annual Family Fun Day Will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17 from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. This year’s games, crafts and refreshments will be carnival based. Join us for a fun-filled family day!

The Chesaning Friends of the Library present Baffling Bill the Magician on Saturday, March 10 at 7 p.m. at the Chesaning Middle School. This is a magic show sure to amaze the whole family! Come and watch Baffling Bill and his rabbit Gus as he makes his assistant Kym disappear before your eyes! Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased in advance at the library or at the door the day of the event. (doors open at 6:15 p.m.) Proceeds from this show benefit children’s programming at River Rapids Library,

St. Charles District Library

The Adult Coloring Club will meet on Friday, Feb. 2, from 10 a.m. to noon. Participants may bring their own coloring supplies or the use the supplies provided by the library. New members are encouraged to join the coloring group!

The St. Charles District Library Board will hold a public hearing for the proposed 2018-2019 budget at its regular meeting on Sunday, Feb. 4, at 4 p.m. at the St. Charles District Library, located at 104 W. Spruce St.

The book discussion group will meet on Monday, Feb 5, at 6 p.m. to discuss the book Coal River by Ellen Marie Wiseman.

The New Lothrop Branch of the Community District Library will hold a glass etching class for adults on Wednesday, Feb. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. Participants should bring a glass item that they would like to etch along with a pattern they would like to use. All other supplies will be provided. Please preregister.

On Thursday, Feb. 8 from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m., people of all ages are invited to make conversation marble magnets for Valentine’s Day. A maximum of five magnets can be made per participant. Please preregister before Feb. 1 by calling the library during public hours at (810) 638-7575.

All seven branches of the Community District Library will be giving away free books to adults who dare to take part in their “Blind Date With a Book” program that will be held Feb. 5 - 19. Book lovers will have the opportunity to win a $25 Applebee’s gift card. Participants will choose a wrapped book to take home and read and then return a “Rate Your Date” slip and share how they liked their book date. Rating slips must be turned in by Friday, Feb. 23 to enter the drawing.

The adult reading program at the Taymouth Township Library began the week of Jan. 8. All adults are welcome to sign up for this 10-week program. Our theme this year is “Build a Better World” and there will be several prizes to win along the way. The more you read, the better chance you have to win.

The library’s hours are Monday 2 to 9 p.m.; Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday, 2 to 9 p.m.; and Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
