Book Discussion Group: Our selection for the February book discussion is The Orphan’s Tale by Pamela Jenoff. Stop by the library and pick up a copy then join us on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. for discussion and refreshments!

In-Stitches Knitting Group: Our knitting group continues to meet on the second Saturday of each month.

Family Movies: River Rapids Library hosts its Family Movie Day the first Saturday of each month. Patrons are encouraged to wear comfy clothes and bring their own pillows and blankets. Popcorn and drinks will be provided.

February Workshop: Alternative to Adobe Illustrator will be held on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. We will introduce you to free alternatives to Illustrator and show you how to make your own greeting cards just in time for Valentine’s Day. Registration is required for this class.

Annual Family Fun Day will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17 from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. This year’s games, crafts and refreshments will be carnival-based. Join us for a fun-filled family day!

The Chesaning Friends of the Library present Baffling Bill the Magician on Saturday, March 10 at 7 p.m. at the Chesaning Middle School. This is a magic show sure to amaze the whole family! Come and watch Baffling Bill and his rabbit Gus as he makes his assistant Kym disappear before your eyes! Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased in advance at the library or at the door the day of the event.(doors open at 6:15 p.m.) Proceeds from this show benefit children’s programming at River Rapids Library.

The Hook and Needle Club will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 1 p.m. New members are encouraged to join the crocheting and knitting.

The Adult Coloring Club will meet on Friday, Feb. 2, from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Participants may bring their own coloring supplies or use the supplies provided by the library. New members are encouraged to join the coloring group!

The St. Charles District Library Board will hold a public hearing for the proposed 2018-2019 Budget at its regular meeting on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, at 4 p.m. at the St. Charles District Library located at 104 W. Spruce Street, St. Charles.

The book discussion group will meet on Monday, Feb. 5, at 6 p.m. to discuss the book Coal River by Ellen Marie Wiseman.

Hours of Operation: Monday – Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday closed.

The New Lothrop Branch of the Community District Library will have a Valentine card making workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 23 from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. The cards will be distributed to recovering veterans and also active members of the military. “All supplies will be furnished and there will be snacks available to fuel the imagination,” said branch manager Elaine Prine. This event is open to children and adults. Phone (810) 638-7575 during library hours.

Hours are Monday and Wednesday from 1 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 1 to 5 p.m.
