STC bowlers take Bradley Holiday tourney at Ithaca

ITHACA - The St. Charles varsity boys’ bowlers won the Jimmy K. Bradley Holiday Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 30 at The Hardwoods Bowling and Banquet Center in Ithaca. It was the second time in three years for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs started out slow in the qualifying round, posting 926 after six Baker games, but put it all together for a near-record 1160 team score in the Peterson game. That was just three pins behind the school record 1163 established last season.

Haden Nothelfer led St. Charles in the Peterson game with a 276. Michael Pratt rolled a 247. Alex Dittenber and Luke Martell each rolled games of 223, and Drake McFarland bowled a 191.

The Bulldogs also got key frames from Bryce Coty, Cody Dittenber and Holden Huntoon in the six qualifying Baker games.

In the first two-Baker, one-Peterson elimination round, the Bulldogs defeated Breckenridge 1259-1120. The teams were tied after the Baker games, but in the Peterson game the Bulldogs built an early lead to eliminate the Huskies.

Leading the Bulldogs in the Peterson game was Coty with a 201 high game.

In the championship match against Ithaca, St. Charles led 345-332 after the Baker games, and held off the Yellowjackets in the Peterson game, 890-873 to take the match 1235-1205.

“It was a total team effort today with contributions from all,” said St. Charles coach Mark Faupel.
