ARTHUR R. BRABANT, of Burt, 98, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at his residence surrounded by family. Art was born on December 7, 1919, in Saginaw, to the late Louis and Winifred (Adams) Brabant. He married the love of his life, Opal Irene Aldridge, on April 11, 1942. She preceded him in death on December 3, 1991. Mr. Brabant lived in Albee Township his entire life as a farmer. Art was also the former Albee Township supervisor and fire chief, and served on the Chesaning School Board. He was the oldest member of First Presbyterian Church of Taymouth as well as in Albee Township. He enjoyed restoring furniture, collecting antiques, puzzles, and painting. Art was a kind, giving man who was loved by many.

Surviving are his sons, Gary Brabant (special friend, Peg Doutre), and Tom (Laura) Brabant; daughters, Diane (Mark) Hammond, Nona (Fred) Graham, and Kim (Dennis) Gray; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; brother, Wally Brabant; sister, Jean Krupp; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members. Art was also preceded in death by his great-grandson, Seth Brabant; brother, Edward Brabant; and sisters, Lucille Laraby, and Betty Lou Brabant. The family would like to extend a special thank you to The Care Team Home Health and Hospice for all their love and care.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church of Taymouth. 12517 Morseville Road, Birch Run. Pastors Scott Kroener and Ted McCulloch will officiate, with burial at Pine Grove Cemetery in Albee Township. The family will receive visitors at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run on Monday, January 8, 2018, from 2 to 8 p.m., and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Taymouth.
