Book Discussion Group: Our selection for the January book discussion is The Light Between Oceans by L.M. Stedman. Stop by the library and pick up a copy then join us on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m. for discussion and refreshments!

In-Stitches Knitting Group: Our knitting group continues to meet on the second Saturday of each month.

Family Movies: River Rapids Library hosts its Family Movie Day the first Saturday of each month. Patrons are encouraged to wear comfy clothes and bring their own pillows and blankets. Popcorn and drinks will be provided.

January Workshop: Alternative to Adobe Photoshop will be offered on Jan. 11, at 6 pm. We will introduce you to free alternatives to Photoshop and show you how to repair old photos. Registration is required for this class.

The St. Charles District Library Board will hold a public hearing for the proposed 2018-2019 budget at its regular meeting on Sunday, Jan. 7, at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Charles District Library, located at 104 W. Spruce Street, St. Charles.

The Book Discussion Group will meet on Monday, Jan. 8, at 6 p.m. to discuss the book My Name is Lucy Barton by Elizabeth Strout.

The Friends of the St. Charles District Library will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 4 p.m. New friends’ members are welcome.

Mid-Michigan Waste Authority Holiday Light Recycling Drive continues through Jan. 15. Don’t throw out your old holiday lights – recycle them! The St. Charles District Library is a collection drop-off site.

The Adult Coloring Club will meet on Friday, Jan. 19, from 10 a.m. to noon. Participants may bring their own coloring supplies or the use the supplies provided by the library. New members are encouraged to join the coloring group!

The Hook and Needle Club will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 1 p.m. New members are encouraged to join the crocheting and knitting.

The library would like to thank all of our friends and volunteers who helped with the Christmas Open House.

We are open to the public on Monday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. If Ashley schools are delayed or closed due to weather conditions, the library is also delayed or closed.

The library board will meet on Monday, Jan. 15 at 5:30 p.m. All are welcome!

The Lego Club will meet on Thursday, Jan. 25 from 3 - 4 p.m. This is for grades first through sixth.

We offer e-books, audio books, and interloans from other libraries. You can borrow movies for free. There are no overdue fines. A 24 hour book return box is available inside our entryway. You can also access ancestry.com from our computers. Come in and research your family history.

Writers’ Group – The Montrose-Jennings Library Writer’s Group will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. This group is open to the public.

The adult reading program at Taymouth Township Library will begin the week of Jan. 8. All adults are welcome to sign up for this 10 week program. Our theme this year will be “Build a Better World” and there will be several prizes to win along the way. The more you read, the better chance you have to win.

The library’s hours are Monday 2 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday 2 to 9 p.m.; and Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
