Photo by Jeanne Marcello MONTROSE – Over the past year, a steering committee has been meeting to bring about the revival of the Montrose Chamber of Commerce. One of the group’s first projects has been to create the Sharing Cabinet as a means to provide an easy way to share things people need.

The Sharing Cabinet has been placed in the parking lot of Montrose Orchards on Seymour Road. It’s a red cabinet with books, boots, hats, mittens and some personal items. It is meant to be a take one, leave one type of cabinet.

Sisters-in-law Cris and Becky Conrad are the project co-chairs, working together with Bubba and Ashley Persall to make the Sharing Cabinet work.

Cris explained that the rules for the cabinet are simple. Books should be placed on the top shelf. Shoes and boots are placed on the bottom. Other items can be placed in the middle; however, since coats take up a lot of space, they ask that they be taken elsewhere.

Other rules mentioned include: don’t leave animals in the cabinet; don’t bring donated items into the Montrose Orchard store as it has simply provided a place for the cabinet.

The Montrose Chamber of Commerce appreciates everyone’s effort to keep the cabinet and the surrounding area free of trash and debris. The Sharing Cabinet needs to be used and maintained in a responsible manner to continue serving the community and its residents.

For questions about the Sharing Cabinet, contact Cris Conrad at (989) 280-2261 or Becky Conrad at (810) 350- 2400.
