Montrose Community Schools make staff announcements

MONTROSE – The Montrose Community Schools Board of Education approved the hiring of several new staff members, as well as accepting the retirements of others, during the Tuesday, Nov. 28 meeting.

Three new part time paraprofessional classroom aides have been hired to assist in kindergarten classrooms at Carter Elementary School. The new positions were approved in October, upon the recommendation of school board secretary Ron Loafman.

The positions were posted with Melissa Clark, Jennifer McCarley and Veronica Rose selected to fill those positions. Superintendent Dr. Edward Graham said each of them has the necessary qualifications for these positions.

Shelley Miller is the new bus driver for Montrose Community Schools. Miller was recommended to the school board by transportation director Angela Florian. Miller already has more than 15 years of experience driving school buses in both Pennsylvania and Ohio.

The school board also accepted the resignation of bus driver Loretta Brown. Her last day was Oct. 26. The board approved Brown’s resignation with collective best wishes.

Deborah Grandas has retired from Montrose Community Schools. Her last day was Nov. 30. The board also extended best wishes to Grandas.

The Montrose Community Schools Board of Education approved the above staffing changes during the Nov. 28 meeting. At the end of the meeting, superintendent Dr. Edward Graham informed the board of his intent to retire from Montrose Community Schools, effective Jan. 1.
