NL boys second, girls third at Greater Flint XC meet

MT. MORRIS – New Lothrop’s boys took second while the Hornet girls took third at the Greater Flint cross country tournament on Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Everett A. Cummings Center in Genesee Township.

There were 23 schools competing in the meet, with the high school races split into three divisions. In the boys’ race, Montrose finished first with 20 points, while the Hornets took second with 64 points.

Carson Hersch led the Hornets, tak­ing fifth in a personal-best 17:44. Drew Kohlmann was 12th in 19:10, followed by Thomas Heslip at 14th in 19:23, Jacob Black, 16th in 19:36, and Micah Poletti, 17th in 19:36. Also running for New Lothrop were Dylan Vincke (19:55), Gage Ruddy (20:13), Noah Wenzlick (20:15) and Josh Collins (22:30).

In the girls’ race, Courtney Krupp won New Lothrop’s division with a per­sonal best 18:48. She was followed by Alana Beckman, 10th in 22:02, Brooke Birchmeier, 14th in 23:23, Chloe Krupp, 15th in 23:34, and Carissa Gross, 17th in 24:05. Also running for the Hornets were Kadie Gross (25:10), Joely Angst (25:24), Kendra Gross (26:33), Alivia Angst (26:34) and Julia Martin (26:47).

Byron won the girls’ race with 40 points. Montrose was second with 40 points and the Hornets were third with 43 points.
