Lady Hornets remain unbeaten in league volleyball play

NEW LOTHROP– A pair of home wins against GAC opponents this past week improved New Lothrop’s varsity volleyball team to an unblemished 6-0 mark as the Lady Hornets swept past Montrose and Morrice.

On Tuesday, neighboring Montrose paid a visit and NL won in three straight sets, 25-18, 25-18, 25-16 as Alyssa Schnell slammed down 10 aces to lead the way from the service line. Schnell was good on 17 of 18 serve opportunities and she also came up with 15 digs on the night.

Kailey Wendling keyed the NL offense with 15 assists. Wendling also drove home three aces.

Jaren Bishop and Katie Bitterman smashed eight and seven kills, respective­ly, and Olivia Johnson added five kills in the league win.

Two nights later, Morrice came to town and the Lady Hornets posted identical 25-17 victories in all three sets.

Wendling distributed 20 assists to go with a pair of service aces while Anna Johnson was accurate on 20 of her 21 serves. She notched a pair of aces among her serves.

Olivia Johnson went 13/16 serving with a pair of aces. Bishop posted 10 kills and Schnell finished with 5 kills and 10 digs as New Lothrop improved to 6-0 in the GAC and to 10-13-2 overall.
