Cardinals blank Bulldogs, 38-0

SAGINAW – Michigan Lutheran Seminary put up 31 points in the first half and held on for a 38-0 win over the visiting St. Charles Bulldogs on Friday, Oct. 6.

The Cardinals led 7-0 after the first quarter and 31-0 at the intermission. They went up 38-0 in the third for the final.

The Bulldogs were held to 167 yards of total offense on the night. They picked up 80 yards rushing on 22 carries, and added another 87 yards through the air.

Blake Berent went 9 of 25 passing for the ‘Dawgs for 87 yards. He also had 12 carries for 35 yards.

Austin Kelly had three catches for 43 yards, and one carry for 11 yards. Michael Pratt had one catch for 26 yards. Hunter Sweatland had three catches for 25 yards.

Kaleb Himler picked up 33 yards in seven carries.

On defense, Alex Pease had three solo tackles and a sack. Jackson Diffin, Sweatland and Berent also had three solo tackles apiece. Nick Pilkington had two solo tackles.

The loss drops the ‘Dawgs to 1-5 in the Tri-Valley Conference West Division, 1-6 overall. They host Ovid-Elsie this Friday for Homecoming. Game time is 7 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium.
