Book Discussion Group: Our selection for the October book discussion is The Heretic’s Daughter by Kathleen Kent. Stop by the library and pick up a copy then join us on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. for discussion and refreshments!

In-Stitches Knitting Group meets the second Saturday of the month at 10 a.m.

Saturday movie matinees will be held on the first Saturday of each month at 11 a.m. Popcorn and beverages will be provided.

Local Children’s authors and former Chesaning educators, Julie Shaw Wenzlick and Rosalee Tithof will be hosting an open house at the library on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. They will each have their new holiday books available to purchase. Stop in to get your copy and have it signed by these talented authors.

Services Available: Faxing $2 for the first page and $1 for each additional page. Copies are 15 cents for black and white and 50 cents for color copies. Laminating is available for $1 per page.

Fall Hours: Monday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Tuesday 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., Wednesday closed, Thursday 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., Friday closed, Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The Friends of the Library and the Library would like to thank to all the volunteers who helped with our Fall Book and Bake Sale. We greatly appreciate all the volunteers who took time to help. Thank you!

Fall Story time is Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. for ages 2 through kindergarten. Please call the library to register your child.

The Adult Coloring Club will meet on Friday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. to noon. Participants may bring their own coloring supplies or the use the supplies provided by the library. New members are encouraged to join the coloring group!

The Hook and Needle Group will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 1 p.m. New members are welcome.

The library will close at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31, for Halloween.

Hours of Operation: Monday – Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday closed.

The New Lothrop Branch of the Community District Library will host a handmade card-making class on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. All supplies will be provided. Pre-registration is required. Phone (810) 638-7575 during library hours for more information. Library hours are Monday and Wednesday 1 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday 1 to 5 p.m.

The New Lothrop branch will hold story hour on the second Wednesday of each month beginning Oct. 11 at 4 p.m. The program is for children through kindergarten age. For information, call the library at (810) 638-7575 during library hours.

The New Lothrop Branch of the Community District Library has the following events planned in October. Space is limited so preregistration is required. Phone (810) 638-7575 during library hours to reserve a spot.

Yarn Buddies is every other Monday beginning Oct. 9 from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. for everyone ages 10 and older. Participants will learn basic crochet stitches. Those who already know how to crochet are welcome. Participants should bring their own crochet hook and yarn.

Imagination Station will take place on Monday, Oct. 16, Nov. 13 and Dec. 11 from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. Kids are invited to the library to get creative with the materials provided.

Harry Potter Potions Class will be presented by Sloan Museum on Monday, Oct. 23 from 4 to 5 p.m. Participants are invited to wear their house colors and come to mix, measure and pour potions to take home, including dragon blood, skeleton polish and a bubbling, color changing reaction.

Library hours are Monday and Wednesday from 1 – 7 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 1 – 5 p.m.
