Book Discussion Group: Our selection for the October book discussion is The Heretic’s Daughter by Kathleen Kent. Stop by the library and pick up a copy then join us on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. for discussion and refreshments!

In-Stitches Knitting Group meets the second Saturday of the month at 10 a.m.

Saturday movie matinees will be held on the first Saturday of each month at 11 a.m. Popcorn and beverages will be provided.

Local Children’s authors and former Chesaning educators, Julie Shaw Wenzlick and Rosalee Tithof will be hosting an open house at the library on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. They will each have their new holiday books available to purchase. Stop in to get your copy and have it signed by these talented authors.

The St. Charles District Library Board will meet on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

The St. Charles District Library announces digital magazines for residents of Brant, St. Charles and Swan Creek Townships.

The St. Charles District Library, in partnership with Recorded Books (Prince Frederick, Md.), now offers the digital-magazine service RBdigital. RBdigital features full-color, digital magazines for instant desktop reading, mobile streaming, and mobile-app download. With this service, patrons can add new and back issues to personal reading libraries with no holds, no checkout periods, and no limits to the number of magazines checked out and downloaded. And with personal notifications for favorite magazines, patrons never miss an issue. Fall Story time is on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. for ages 2 through kindergarten. Please call the library to register your child.

The Friends of the Library Fall Book and Bake will be on Wednesday, Oct. 4, from 2 to 6 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Please help support the Friends of the library by donating baked goods for the upcoming bake sale on Oct. 4 and 5. The money raised will be used to support library programs, materials, and special equipment for the library.

The book discussion group will meet on Monday, Oct. 2, at 6 p.m. to discuss the book My Name is Mahtob: a daring escape, a life of fear, and the forgiveness that set me free, by Mahtob Mahmoody.

The Adult Coloring Club will meet on Friday, Oct. 6, from 10 a.m. to noon. Participants may bring their own coloring supplies or the use the supplies provided by the library. New members are encouraged to join the coloring group!

The New Lothrop Branch of the Community District Library will host a handmade card-making class on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. All supplies will be provided. Preregistration is required.
