GOVERNMENT MEETINGS

SWAN CREEK TOWNSHIP PLANNING COMMISSION will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at the township hall, 11415 Lakefield Road, St. Charles.

MARION TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 2, in the township hall, 11925 S. Merrill Road.

ST. CHARLES TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet on Monday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. in the township hall, 1003 N. Saginaw St., St. Charles.

CHESANING VILLAGE COUNCIL will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, in the council chambers at the village office, 1100 W. Broad Street.

BRADY TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at the township hall, 16020 W. Peet Road, Oakley.

CHESANING TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5, at the Township Hall, 1025 W. Brady St.

CLUBS AND CIVIC GROUPS

MONTROSE HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION members will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, at the Montrose Historical and Telephone Pioneer Museum, 144 E. Hickory St.

MONTROSE MASONIC LODGE #428 will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at the Lodge, 130 Parkway St.

• The ST. CHARLES LIONS CLUB meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the St. Charles United Methodist Church, 301 W. Belle St., St. Charles.

NEW LOTHROP VFW POST #6579 will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at the VFW Hall, 8235 Saginaw St.

• The SAGINAW GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1415 N. Center Road, Saginaw. This month’s presenter will be Nancy Pavlik, talking on “How to use Find a Grave as a source for your family tree information. The meeting is free and open to the public. FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP

• The Chesaning American Legion Post 212 Auxiliary will be having a BAKE SALE on Sunday, Oct. 1 at the pancake breakfast. Donations for the auxiliary are welcome.

• There will be a COMMUNITY SOUP SUPPER on the second Saturday of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 Brady St., Chesaning. No reservations are needed and there is no cost. The supper is open to all. Those in need of a ride should call (989) 845-3157 Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

SUPPORT GROUPS

HUNTINGTON’S DISEASE SUPPORT GROUP meets on Thursday, Oct. 5 from 7 - 9 p.m. at the Saginaw Township Hall. Call (989) 835-9933 for information.

• The Memorial Healthcare CANCER SUPPORT GROUP meets on the first Monday of the month from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the Community Room at the Memorial Cancer Center, 721 N. Shiawassee St., Owosso. For more information, call (989) 729-4786.

• The SAGINAW COUNTY STROKE SUPPORT GROUP will meet on Wednesday, Oct. 4 from 3 to 4 p.m. at Healthsource Saginaw, 3340 Hospital Road, Saginaw.

GLEANER’S TRI-COUNTY ARBOR #768 of Montrose will meet on Thursday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. at the Montrose Railroad Depot. The public is welcome.

FUNDRAISERS

ODDS AND ENDS

• New Lothrop VFW Auxiliary #6579 is having its SEMI-ANNUAL PASTY SALE on Oct. 16 and 17. The price is $4 each for beef pasties. Pick-up will be at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Montrose on Monday, Oct. 16 from 2 to 6 p.m., and Tuesday, Oct. 17 from noon to 6 p.m. Call Susan at (810) 497-7647 to place orders.

• New Lothrop VFW Auxiliary #6579 is hosting a CASINO BUS TRIP to Firekeepers Casino near Battle Creek on Monday, Oct. 30. The cost is $40. Participants receive $20 back in play and $5 in food credits. The bus leaves the Good Shepherd Church parking lot at 8:30 a.m. and returns at approximately 4:30 p.m. Call Susan at (810) 496-7647 to reserve a seat.

REUNIONS

• The St. Charles High School CLASS OF 1992’s 25th-year reunion will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14 at Kimberley Oaks Golf Course in St. Charles. Dinner, DJ and cash bar will be provided. Invitations will be emailed. • The St. Charles High School CLASS OF 1987 will gather on homecoming weekend, Oct. 14, at The Alley Bar and Grill in St. Charles. The Alley will be closed to the public for the evening. Cash bar opens at 5 p.m. with a dinner buffet to follow. The cost is $20 per person and the dress code is casual. BAZAARS AND CRAFT SHOWS

• The St. Charles Methodist Women’s CHRISTMAS BAZAAR will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the St. Charles United Methodist Church, 301 W. Belle Ave., St. Charles, Tables and spaces are $20 each. Set-up for crafters will be Friday, Nov. 10, from 5 to 7 p.m., or Saturday, Nov. 11 at 7:30 a.m. All crafters will leave displays up until 3 p.m. on Nov. 11. • A CRAFT BAZAAR will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 W. Brady Road, Chesaning. The church is located at the west end of Chesaning on M-57. There will be a large variety of items available, including homemade crafts, jewelry, cookies and used books. There are still openings for vendors, so anyone interested should contact Dianne Stanuszek at (989) 865-9709 for more information.

• A CRAFT SHOW AND INDOOR YARD SALE is planned for Saturday, Oct. 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Owosso ZCBJ Hall, 1775 Owosso Ave. Proceeds will benefit local charities and hall maintenance.

CHURCHES

ST. CHARLES SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST COMMUNITY CENTER is open the first and third Thursday of every month from 6:30 until 8 p.m. The center is located at the corner of Clinton and Marcy Streets in St. Charles, and serves those who are in need of gently used clothing, household items and furniture (when available). The center also accept donations of gently used clothing, household items and furniture. Interested persons should stop by if they need assistance or have any questions.

SENIOR CITIZENS

• The MARION TOWNSHIP SENIOR CITIZENS meet the first Monday of each month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a potluck dinner at the Marion Township Hall. All senior citizens are welcome. For more information, call 643-2201 or 643-5635.

FOOD PANTRIES

• There will be FOOD DISTRIBUTION on the second Saturday of each month behind Trinity United Methodist Church in Chesaning. Service will be at 4:30 p.m. with distribution at 5 p.m.

SCHOOLS

ST. CHARLES COMMUNITY SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, in the conference room, 891 W. Walnut Street, St. Charles.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

FLU AND PNEUMONIA SHOTS will be administered at the Maple Grove Senior Citizen Center on Thursday, Oct. 19, from 8:45 to 11:30 a.m. Call (989) 845-7444 for more information and to register.
