90th Birthday


Elizabeth “Betty” Dankert Elizabeth “Betty” Dankert On August 5, 2017, a special 90th birthday party was held for Elizabeth “Betty” Dankert, of Chesaning, at Showboat Restaurant. All of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were present, except Sarah (Thomson) Weaver and her husband, Brent, who were able to attend due to living in California. After the celebration, pictures were taken at Showboat Park, and the visiting continued at the home of Sharon (Dankert) and Jim Peters on Baldwin Road in Chesaning.

Betty was born on August 1, 1927, the daughter of Mike and Susan Bolf.

She was married to the late Duane Dankert. Their children are Sharon and Jim Peters, of Chesaning, Diane and Tom Thomson, of Fremont, Ohio, and Deb and Cap Pohlman, of Spring Lake. She also has seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Betty worked at Chesaning Middle School for 28 years, retiring in 1986 as head cook. She is a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and a past member of the band boosters, past Girl Scout leader, and past Sunday school teacher. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling, camping, gardening and crocheting.

Her parents and all eight of her siblings have passed away.
