Ram boys second, girls third at Shepherd invite

SHEPHERD – The Montrose boys finished a close second to the host Bluejays at the Shepherd Invitational on Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Shepherd finished with 49 points, while the Rams came in with 44 points in the field of nine schools.

Seniors Peyton Tipton, Jeffrey Klopf II and Eric Vandefifer led Rams. Tipton was second overall with a career-best 16:52. Klopf was 11th with a career-best 17:23. Vandefifer was 16th in 17:40.

Also scoring for the Rams were Joe Wade (17:57) and Kade Meganck (career-best 18:45). Tipton, Klopf, Vandefifer and Wade each were medalists.

Rounding out the top seven for Montrose were Ethan Andres (19:37) and Peyton Hobson (19:42).

The Montrose girls finished third with 90 points. Cadillac was first with 49 points, with Shepherd finishing second at 51 points.

Remington Hopson led the Rams, finishing second in a season-best 19:35. Savanna McDowell (22:12) and Paige Allard (22:23) also medaled for the Rams. Rounding out the top seven for Montrose were Lindsey Field (23:52), Amber Wing (23:58), Hannah
