MARY M. NEWVINE

MARY M. NEWVINE, of Brant Township, 86, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, was called home to the Lord on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. She passed away at McLaren-Flint. She was born in Brant Township on March 3, 1931, the daughter of Clyde and Beulah (McKay) Thayer. Mary married her best friend and love of her life, James “Jim” Newvine on September 27, 1979, at Racy Free Methodist Church. Mary was a homemaker, but she also had worked at Strawsine’s Manufacturing in Corunna, Uncle John’s Cider Mill in St. Johns, and at a potato farm. She had a love for all kinds of animals, but mostly horses. She enjoyed going to church and the senior center and riding her Harley- Davidson. She loved spending time with her family.

Mrs. Newvine is survived by her husband, Jim; her son, Terry (Norma) Witherell, of Burt; her daughters, Pamela Stevens, Dawn (Aaron) Hawes, and Janet (Tim) Stevens, all of Chesaning; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; her brothers, Gail Thayer and Frank (Jean) Gross, all of Chesaning; a sister-in-law, Rose; many nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; nieces and nephews; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at the Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning. Rev. Dr. John R. Miller officiated. Burial will be later at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. If desired, charitable donations given in memory of Mary may be made to the Compassionate Ministry at the Oakley Community Church.
