MAPLE GROVE TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, in the township hall, 17010 Lincoln Road.

CHESANING VILLAGE PLANNING COMMISSION will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22 in the council chambers, 1100 W. Broad St.


MONTROSE AMERICAN LEGION POST #367 will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, at the Montrose Senior Citizen Center, 200 Alfred St. Any veteran who wishes to learn more about joining the legion may attend.

CHESANING AREA TASK FORCE meets at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at the Chesaning Chamber of Commerce office. The Task Force encourages visitors and welcomes requests to be placed on the agenda. Anyone interested in serving on the Task Force board in the future or seeking information about Task Force can call (989) 845-6061.

PARK FRIENDS continue to meet on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from 9 to 10 a.m. at Cole Park in Chesaning. It’s a good place to meet new friends and improve the parks. Any questions, call 845-2258.


• The Montrose Eagles Club, 11416 Vienna Road, Montrose, will host BREAKFAST on the fourth Sunday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 4-12, and free for ages 3 and under. For takeouts, call (810) 639-5886.


• The Memorial Healthcare free DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP will meet on the fourth Friday of each month at 1 p.m. at the Durand Senior Center, 8750 Monroe Road, Durand. For more information, call (989) 729-4712 or (800) 206-8706, ext. 6655.


• The Montrose Township Senior Center and many other local businesses and community groups are banding together for a SUPPLIES FOR SUCCESS DRIVE to ensure Montrose students have the essentials to learn and succeed this school year. Supplies needed include: composition books, number two pencils, erasers, colored pencils, crayons, dry erase markers, washable markers, two-pocket folders, spiral notebooks, backpacks, one, two and three inch binders, glue bottles and sticks, small scissors, hand sanitizer, facial tissue, pencil boxes or pouches, ink pens, and highlighters. To participate, purchase any of the items on the list and drop donations at the following participating businesses by Aug. 31: Montrose Township Senior Center, Riverside Market, Sav On Drugs, Dollar General, Lamb of God Fellowship, Montrose Methodist Church and Good Shepherd Catholic Church. • Michigan Swim Dogs will host the CHESANING FALL CLASSIC featuring a bear dog water race, field trial and treeing contest on Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Great Northern Raccoon Club, 13821 Bishop Road, Chesaning. • A free weekly BEGINNER’S GUITAR CLASS will again start on Tuesday, Sept. 5 and end in May at the Chesaning Seventh Day Adventist Church, 331 S. Clark St. Adults and children are welcome to join. It is recommended a child be at least 9 years old. The size of the guitar and other specifications are important to a child’s success, so for more information, call Kelly Landis at (517) 703-4088. The beginner’s class is from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m., and the second year’s class is from 6:45 to 7:30 p.m.

• The WFLA-ZCBJ Lodge #242, 1775 Owosso Ave., Owosso, is having a JAM SESSION on Sunday, Sept. 10 from 2 to 6 p.m. The doors will open at 1 p.m. Admission is free. Attendees can bring their instruments and join the jam session, or bring a friend and enjoy the music. Sandwiches, dessert and coffee will be available for purchase. There will also be a cash bar. The public is welcome to attend.


• The St. Charles High School CLASS OF 1992’s 25th year reunion will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14 at Kimberly Oaks Golf Course in St. Charles. Dinner, DJ and cash bar will be provided. • The New Lothrop High School Class of 1987 30TH YEAR CLASS REUNION will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. at Gracie’s Sidekick. There is no need to send money or RSVP, just come. New Lothrop’s homecoming will be on Friday, Sept. 15 for those who want to attend.

• The Owosso High School Class of 1967’s 50TH YEAR

REUNION will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30 at Comstock Inn, Owosso. There will be a class mates get-together on Friday, Sept. 29 at 5 p.m. at Jumbo’s in Owosso. • The Chesaning High School Class of 1982 35TH CLASS REUNION will be held on Friday, Sept. 22 at the CHS home football game at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 23 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at The Back Forty Bar & Grill at the corner of M-52 and M-57. • Vendors are wanted for a CRAFTS BAZAAR to be held on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 W. Brady Road, Chesaning. Registration is $20 for an eight foot space, $25 after Oct. 6, $5 less for those who bring their own table. A $6 lunch is available. To register, contact Diane Stanuszek at (989) 865-9709.

• Crafters and vendors are wanted for a CRAFT SHOW AND INDOOR YARD SALE to be held on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the WFLA-ZCBJ Hall, 1775 Owosso Ave., Owosso. NEW LOTHROP AREA PUBLIC SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, for a regular meeting in the High School Library, 9285 Easton Rd., New Lothrop.
