Letter to the editor

Dear Editor,

The Fireworks Committee of the Chesaning Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the many businesses and people who made this year’s fireworks event a huge success! First and foremost, Wolverine Fireworks Display Inc. did another fantastic job of creating a spectacular show in a safe and professional manor. We are thankful to partner with a company that takes such pride in their craft!

Thank you to all who supported the Fireworks show financially, whether through donations, purchase and sales of the annual chamber raffle tickets or parking admission fees... your commitment to funding the firework show benefits the whole community! A special thank you to this year’s business sponsors for their support of the fireworks: H & R Block of Chesaning, Homes by Stoddards, Ron Ebenhoeh of Metro Mortgage and Sovis Insurance Agency. In addition, the following businesses helped collect spare-change donations by setting out collection canisters near their cash registers: Broad Street Pharmacy, Ed Rehmann & Sons Clothing and Shoes, Franks Grocery Store, Indian’s Café, Malt Shop, Paxson Oil Marathon, Possum’s Party Store, Self Serve Lumber, Studio 124 and Subway of Chesaning. Your efforts really added up!

Our vendors enjoyed a busy night and we would like to recognize the AFS Mid-Michigan Chapter, City-Wide WiFi, Chesaning Lions Club, Hungry Howie’s Pizza, Sliwa Concessions and Jeff Drake of Touch of Class Gifts for providing information, food and light-up and glow items to the spectators. Thank you to Mel Ervin Ford for the display of their Ford F-150 truck for our truck raffle! An army of volunteers assisted with collecting gate admissions including Christina and Natasha Bixby, Hannah Court, Shelby Harris, Kryiana Luce, Melanie Taylor and Hannah Waite from the Chesaning National Honor Society and Jamie Hoover, Carla Koan, Kathy Larner, Samantha Marzluft, Tammy Schiefer and Lorie Willie of The State Bank. The Jordan River Band did an excellent job entertaining the crowds prior to the show, keeping everyone’s toes tapping through the evening.

We also deeply appreciate Chief Stacy Wilburn and the Chesaning Police and Reservists, and the Chesaning-Brady Fire Department for keeping our spectators and fireworks crew safe. Also, a huge thank you goes to Chesaning DPW team for making the park look great for the community and for their assistance during the fireworks, with special recognition to Dan Escamilla for his efforts from start to finish of the event.

It truly takes a village to pull off a large event like the fireworks and Chesaning is fortunate that so many work to keep this annual tradition alive. We are already looking forward to next year’s show and welcome your ideas and efforts to make it even bigger and better. Feel free to contact the Chamber office at 989-845-3055 or info@chesaningchamber.org.

Sincerely,

The 2017 Fireworks Committee: Ron
Ebenhoeh, Jessie Stewart and Chris Theile
