Chesaning summer school bond projects moving forward

CHESANING – During the July 10 meeting, the Chesaning Union Schools Board of Education reviewed the bond project progress report from Jeff Thomas of RC Hendrick & Son. This summer’s efforts are focused on Big Rock Elementary School’s new bus loop and improvements to the school bus garage.

Thomas reported that at the bus garage, the bases for new light poles have been poured and the electrical wires installed. Installation of the overhead doors begins in one or two weeks. The pedestrian doors will be ready for installation next week. The asphalt parking lot was pulverized and a base put down. Concrete was removed; and a drain line and catch basins are being installed.

At Big Rock, the bus loop was shaped and asphalt millings from the high school was used as part of the base. New drains were also installed. Once completed, the new bus loop will aid in separating bus traffic from parent traffic to increase safety for the students.
