GOVERNMENT MEETINGS

MAPLE GROVE TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, July 17, in the township hall, 17010 Lincoln Road.

MONTROSE TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 18 in the Township Hall, 139 S. Saginaw.

CHESANING VILLAGE COUNCIL will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, in the council chambers at the village office, 1100 W. Broad Street.

CLUBS AND CIVIC GROUPS

• The Chesaning FFA Alumni first annual FAMILY CANOE RUN AND POTLUCK will be Sunday, July 16. Participants should meet at Showboat Park at 11 a.m. for a shuttle to the canoe launch at Parshallburg. Participants should bring their own canoes. A potluck lunch will be served at 3 p.m. at the upper pavilion at Showboat Park. Participants should bring a dish to pass, table service, and their own beverages. A main dish will be provided. Send reservations to Liz Tomac at Ltomac@chesaning.k12.mi.us.

• The ST. CHARLES AMERICAN LEGION POST 468 meets on the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. in the American Legion Hall, St. Charles.

• The SHIAWASSEE QUILTERS meet on the third Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Owosso Senior Center, 300 N. Washington St. Some of their activities include making charity quilts, quilt speakers, trunk shows, round robins, mystery quilts, prizes, free fat quarters, and tips of the months.

• The BURT AMERICAN LEGION POST #99 meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Burt Opera House, 12888 Nichols Road, Burt.

• The MONTROSE BLUEBERRY FESTIVAL COMMITTEE will meet at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month at the Montrose Depot, 154 W. State St., Montrose. Visitors should contact the festival email at montroseblueberryfestival@hotmail.com one week prior to the meeting in order to be placed on the agenda.

• The TAYMOUTH TOWNSHIP HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION meets on the third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Taymouth Township Library, 2361 E. Burt Road, Burt.

FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP

• The First United Methodist Church of New Lothrop, 7495 Orchard St., New Lothrop, will serve a CAR SHOW MEAL on Saturday, July 29, from noon to 3 p.m. The menu will include a pulled pork box lunch with baked beans, cole slaw, chips and water.

• The Montrose Eagles Club, 11416 Vienna Road, Montrose, will host BREAKFAST on the fourth Sunday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children

ages 4-12, and free for ages 3 and under. For takeouts, call (810) 639-5886.

SUPPORT GROUPS

• The Memorial Healthcare free DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP will meet from 1 to 2 p.m. on the third Friday of the month at the Owosso Senior Center, 300 N. Washington St.

• The Memorial Healthcare PROSTATE CANCER SUPPORT GROUP meets on the third Monday of the month from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Community Room at the Memorial Cancer Center, 721 N. Shiawassee St., Owosso. For more information, call (989) 729-4786.

BAZAARS AND CRAFT SHOWS

• The United Methodist Women will host a RUMMAGE AND BAKE SALE July 27-29 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of New Lothrop, 7495 Orchard St.

FUNDRAISERS

* The Montrose Township Senior Center will host its first annual COMMUNITY YARD SALE AND CRAFT FAIR fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Indoor and outdoor rental space is available. Call (810) 639-2822 for more information.

CHURCHES

ST. CHARLES SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST COMMUNITY

CENTER is open the first and third Thursday of every month from 6:30 until 8 p.m. The center is located at the corner of Clinton and Marcy Streets in St. Charles, and serves those who are in need of gently used clothing, household items and furniture (when available). The center also accept donations of gently used clothing, household items and furniture. Interested persons should stop by if they need assistance or have any questions.

SCHOOLS

ST. CHARLES COMMUNITY SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, in the conference room, 891 W. Walnut Street, St. Charles.

NEW LOTHROP PUBLIC SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, July 17, in the New Lothrop High School Library.

VETERANS

VIETNAM VETERANS PINNING CEREMONY - State Senator Ken Horn will host a pinning ceremony for U.S. military veterans who served in the Vietnam War. Those who served in the Vietnam War and have not yet received the commemorative pin can participate in the upcoming ceremony at the Michigan Military and Space Heroes Museum, 1250 Weiss St. in Frankenmuth on Saturday, Aug. 5, at 10 a.m., with social hour at 9 a.m. Please RSVP to senkhorn@senate.michigan.gov or phone toll-free at (855) 347-8032. This will ensure sufficient pins are available at the ceremony. Families are welcome to attend.
