Lady Indians sweep O-E, lose pair to Alma in recent softball action

Chesaning’s varsity softball team swept a doubleheader at Ovid-Elsie on May 4 before dropping both ends of last Tuesday’s twin bill at home against Alma in recent action.

Taylor Gross tossed a perfect game in the opener at O-E and Hannah Spannagel pitched a two-hitter in the nightcap as the Lady Indians romped to a pair of mercy-shortened victories. The opener went just five innings and Game Two required just three frames as the Tribe won, 13-0 and 19-0.

Gross, Erica Barta and Haylei Drope all had five hits apiece in the doubleheader sweep. Liz Coon and Julia Bishop rapped three hits during the day and Jordyn Bishop registered a pair of hits in the nightcap.

Miranda Dodak and Jordyn Bishop had the only hits in a 13-0 opening loss last Tuesday as Alma mercied the Tribe in five innings.

Gross took the loss on the slab in Game Two as CHS lost a hard-fought 6-3 decision to the Lady Panthers. Dekoda Chant led Chesaning with three hits and Gross added a pair of safeties.
