In honor of Mothers’ Day, students in Ed Railling’s fourth grade class were each asked to write an essay titled “Why my mother deserves a spa day.” The two essay winners are Skylar Wissinger and Drew Schirle. Their mothers, Megan Wissinger and Jill Schirle, each won a free spa service at Kreative Kutz in St. Charles.

An excerpt from Skylar’s essay said: “As I mentioned, my mom works countless hours a week to pay for bills, needs and wants. I know this can be very stressful, but she is always willing to do whatever it takes to make us happy. She prepares three hot meals for us every day. Every bite makes my tummy smile and my taste buds dance.”

Drew Schirle’s essay said, “My mom is caring and loving. My mother loves me no matter what happens to me. She cooks so good, the taste is on my tongue. She deserves a day off. She works so hard, even when my mom doesn’t feel well.”

Drew Schirle’s mom is a teacher. He looks forward to giving her the prize for his winning essay, a bouquet of flowers, a spa gift set and a gift certificate from Kreative Kutz.
