GOVERNMENT MEETINGS

MAPLE GROVE TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, May 15, in the township hall, 17010 Lincoln Road.

MONTROSE TOWNSHIP BOARD OF TRUSTEES will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 16 in the Township Hall, 139 S. Saginaw.

CHESANING VILLAGE COUNCIL will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, in the council chambers at the village office, 1100 W. Broad Street.

CLUBS AND CIVIC GROUPS

• The ST. CHARLES AMERICAN LEGION POST 468 meets on the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. in the American Legion Hall, St. Charles.

•The SHIAWASSEE QUILTERS meet on the third Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Owosso Senior Center, 300 N. Washington St. Some of their activities include making charity quilts, quilt speakers, trunk shows, round robins, mystery quilts, prizes, free fat quarters, and tips of the months.

• The BURT AMERICAN LEGION POST #99 meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Burt Opera House, 12888 Nichols Road, Burt.

CHESANING SPORTS BOOSTERS will meet on Wednesday, May 17 at 7 p.m. in room 401 at Chesaning High School.

• The ST. CHARLES LIONS CLUB will meet on Wednesday, May 17 at 6 p.m. at the St. Charles United Methodist Church, 301 W. Belle St., St. Charles.

• The MONTROSE BLUEBERRY FESTIVAL COMMITTEE will meet at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month at

the Montrose Depot, 154 W. State St., Montrose. Visitors should contact the festival email at montroseblueberryfestival@hotmail.com one week prior to the meeting in order to be placed on the agenda.

• The TAYMOUTH TOWNSHIP HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION meets on the third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Taymouth Township Library, 2361 E. Burt Road, Burt.

FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP

• The First United Methodist Church of New Lothrop, 7495 Orchard St., will host a SOUP AND PIE SUPPER on Wednesday, May 17, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The cost is $5 for adults, $2.50 for children.

• The Montrose Eagles Club, 11416 Vienna Road, will host a MOTHER’S DAY BREAKFAST on Sunday, May 14 from 7 to 11 a.m. The cost for the all-you-can-eat breakfast is $6. Auxiliary mothers eat for free. For take-out breakfasts, call (810) 639-5886.

• The Montrose Eagles Club, 11416 Vienna Road, will host a FATHER’S DAY BREAKFAST on Sunday, June 18 from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost for the all-you-can-eat breakfast is $6. Aerie fathers eat for free. For take-out breakfasts, call (810) 639-5886.

• The New Lothrop VFW Post 6579 Auxiliary will be having a PASTY SALE on May 22-23. The cost is $4 per pasty. Pickup will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Monday, May 22, and from noon to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 400 N. Saginaw St., Montrose. To order pasties, call Susan at (810) 496-7647. The Auxiliary is also accepting membership.

• The Chesaning Knights of Columbus will host a HAMBURGER NIGHT from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, at the Chesaning K of C Hall. The menu includes hamburgers, hot dogs, coney dogs, brats, sloppy joes, nachos and cheese, fries, and onion rings. Hamburger nights are open to the public.

• There will be a WET BURRITO DINNER at the St. Charles Masonic Temple every third Friday of the month from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The cost is $10. The Masons will also deliver. Call (989) 865-8568.

• The Montrose Eagles Club, 11416 Vienna Road, Montrose, will host BREAKFAST on the fourth Sunday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for

SUPPORT GROUPS

• The Memorial Healthcare free DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP will meet from 1 to 2 p.m. on the third Friday of the month at the Owosso Senior Center, 300 N. Washington St.

• The Memorial Healthcare PROSTATE CANCER SUPPORT GROUP meets on the third Monday of the month from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Community Room at the Memorial Cancer Center, 721 N. Shiawassee St., Owosso. For more information, call (989) 729-4786.

ODDS & ENDS

• The 28th Annual TOWN-WIDE ATTIC SALES in Chesaning will be held on Friday and Saturday, May 26 and 27. Participants are encouraged to contact the Tri-County Citizen to place classified ads listing their sale locations. Questions regarding the Town Wide Attic Sales may be directed to the Chesaning Chamber of Commerce at (989) 845-3055.

• An INTRO TO ULTRALIGHT AND LIGHT SPORT AIRCRAFT SEMINAR will be held on Monday, May 15 at 7 p.m. at the Howard Nixon Memorial Airport, 204 S. Fourth St., Chesaning. This free seminar will cover types of aircrafts and regulations for learning to fly in ultralight and light sports aircraft. The seminar will be presented by Dennis Demeter and is sponsored by the Chesaning Sportsplane Association. For more information, call (989) 295-6992.

SCHOOLS

NEW LOTHROP AREA PUBLIC SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, May 15, for a regular meeting in the High School Library, 9285 Easton Rd., New Lothrop.

CHURCHES

• The First United Methodist Church of New Lothrop, 7495 Orchard St., is sponsoring MOVIE NIGHT on Saturday, May 20. A free dinner will be served before the movie at 5:30 p.m. The title of the movie is “Sing” and it will be shown at 6 p.m. All ages are welcome.

• Oakley Community Church, 327 S. Main St., will host a

LADIES’ TEA on Saturday, May 20, at 11 a.m. The event is sponsored by the Women’s Ministry. Attendees are encouraged to wear their hats, come join in for God’s word, fun, fellowship and a light lunch. The suggested donation is $5 at the door. For more information, call (989) 661-7976.

ST. CHARLES SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST COMMUNITY CENTER is open the first and third Thursday of every month from 6:30 until 8 p.m. The center is located at the corner of Clinton and Marcy Streets in St. Charles, and serves those who are in need of gently used clothing, household items and furniture (when available). The center also accept donations of gently used clothing, household items and furniture. Interested persons should stop by if they need assistance or have any questions.

HEALTH & SAFETY

Memorial Healthcare’s next free LUNCH AND LEARN program will be held on Monday, May 22 at noon. This month’s presentation will be on “Diabetes Prevention” by registered dietician, Marla Price. The presentation will cover what pre-diabetes is, and how to delay or prevent the onset of diabetes with lifestyle changes related to weight loss, diet and exercise. Those with pre-diabetes are encouraged to attend this very informative presentation. This presentation will be held in the community room of Memorial Healthcare’s Medical Arts Building, 721 N. Shiawassee Street, Owosso. Call (989) 729-4729 extension 6729 to reserve a seat.

• In recognition of National Cancer Survivor Day, Memorial Healthcare will be hosting its annual CANCER SURVIVOR DAY celebration on Thursday, June 1. This free event will be held at Memorial’s Medical Arts Building, 721 N. Shiawassee Street in Owosso (at the corner of King Street and M-52) from 1 to 3 p.m. Activities will include an ice cream social, recognition ceremony, guest speakers, raffle, live music, and more. From family members to close friends, everyone knows someone whose life has been touched by cancer. A cancer survivor is anyone living with a history of cancer – from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life. Memorial Healthcare extends an invitation to everyone who has been touched by a cancer diagnosis, including family, friends and caregivers to join in this special occasion.
