Stevens’ hat trick paces Montrose to 10-0 win

SAGINAW – Lydia Stevens posted her first-ever varsity hat trick last Tuesday as Montrose’s varsity girls’ soccer team romped to a 10-0 win over host Saginaw Arts and Sciences Academy.

Jason Perrin’s Lady Rams are now 2-0 on the young season.

In addition to Stevens’ three goals, Amber Wing and Lanie Howell each found the back of the net twice. Also scoring for Montrose were Ellie Zuniga, Izzie Beavers and Zoee Robbins. Assists went to Lindsey Field and Zuniga with two each, Robbins, Julie Christian, Natalie Folsom and Hailey Jennings.

Keeper Hannah Williams earned the shutout between the pipes.

“We play four freshmen and all of them were able to contribute to the scoring,” said Coach Perrin. “We have a nice combination of experience and youth and we’re just looking to grow and gel as the season progresses. This was a nice step in that direction.”
