Book Discussion Group: Our selection for the April book discussion is One True Thing by Anna Quindlan. Stop by the library and pick up a copy then join us on Wednesday, April 19, at 7 p.m. for discussion and refreshments!
Historian to Speak: On May 4, at 6 p.m., historian Larry Martin will be visiting to relay the story of Michigander Fred Bahlau, who was awarded two Silver Stars for his gallantry during combat as he parachuted into Normandy on D-Day, 1944. Larry will also bring some of his own personal World War II artifacts!
Story Time: We still have a couple openings available for our Tuesday morning Toddler Time story hour which begins at 10:30 a.m. Former kindergarten teacher Janet Godfrey leads the children in stories, songs and simple crafts.
DVD Rentals: Library patrons can rent movies for $1 for seven days.
Services Available: Faxing $2 for the first page and $1 for each additional page. Copies are 15 cents for black and white and 50 cents for color copies. Laminating is available for $1 per page.
Family Movies: River Rapids Library hosts its Family Movie Day the first Saturday of each month. Patrons are encouraged to wear comfy clothes and bring their own pillows and blankets. Popcorn and drinks are provided.

St. Charles District Library

The Friends of the Library will hold their Spring Book and Bake Sale on Wednesday, April 19 from 2 to 6 p.m. and Thursday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Friends of the Library will be accepting gently used, “like new” book donations for their Spring Book and Bake sale through April 19.
The Friends of the Library will also be accepting baked goods for the Spring Bake Sale. Baked goods can be dropped off at the library prior to the bake sale.
The April 21 adult coloring group is cancelled. The adult coloring group will meet on Friday, April 28, from 10 a.m. to noon.
The Hook and Needle Group will meet on Tuesday, April 25, at 1 p.m.
“1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” is a free and ongoing program that encourages parents to read with their children as a way to develop early literacy skills before kindergarten, and foster a lifelong love of reading. The goal of the program is for children to have read 1,000 books before entering kindergarten. To get started, pick up your starter kit with instructions, and reading logs at the St. Charles District Library. For more information, contact the St. Charles District Library’s Children’s Department. The program is sponsored in part by the Michigan Center for the Book, Free and Accepted Masons St. Charles Lodge 313, and the Law Office of James Hession.

Writer’s Group – The Montrose-Jennings Writer’s Group will meet April 18 at 6 p.m. Come join this group of word-lovers that meets in the Community Room on the first and third Tuesday of every month.
Used Book Sale – Friends of the Montrose-Jennings Library will hold a used book sale on April 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Come on out and find your next great read.
All Genesee District Libraries will be closed April 14, 15 and 16 for spring break.
