ROSE “DEL” WENDLING
Age 88, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Covenant Medical Center in Saginaw. Rose was born on August 29, 1928 to Felix and Margaret Belill in Saginaw. She graduated from Sacred Heart School in Birch Run as the valedictorian of her class. She earned her associate’s degree from Baker College. Del married Robert W. Wendling on April 19, 1947 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church; they celebrated 67 years of marriage before he predeceased her last November. Del worked as an office manager for Hehr International for 25 years. During her life, she often volunteered at Covenant Hospital, and she was involved with the SPRED program at St. Michael Catholic Church of Maple Grove. She enjoyed walking, sewing, and traveling everywhere. Above all, Del loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Del is survived by her son, Ron (Jan) Wendling; her daughter Linda (Mike) Gerding; her five grandchildren, Troy (Jan) Gerding, Laura (Shawn) Truhett, Jeff (Sandra) Wendling, Jason Wendling, and Rob Wendling; her eight great-grandchildren, Noah Gerding, Cole Truhett, and Faith, Ella, Madisyn, Kenndall, Brooklyn, and Jackson Wendling; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Bob; her son, Denny Wendling; her parents; her brothers, Bernard, Robert, James, and Emerson Belill; and her sisters, Alice, Margaret, and Catherine.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at St. Michael Catholic Church of Maple Grove. Burial followed at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Nelson- House Funeral Homes New Lothrop Chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family.
