LAVON “BONNIE” L. BATES

Of Chesaning

Age 91, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Union Court Assisted Living in St. Charles. Bonnie was born on December 21, 1925 to Bruno and Josephine (Sines) Pfaff in Marion, Ohio. She graduated from Fairview High School. She married Daniel “Bob” R. Bates on September 28, 1946. Bonnie was a homemaker all her life. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and playing cards. She was also an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers. Bonnie loved spending time with her family.

Bonnie is survived by her daughters, Sheila Bates (Dave Myers), Sandra (Cliff) Ostrander, Beverly (Alan) Wenzlick, and Bobbi (Dave) McIntyre; her 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Wayne Pfaff and Willard (Phyllis) Pfaff; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Bob; her son, LeRoy Bates; her grandson, Timothy Fritz; her brother, Gilbert Pfaff; and her sisters, Dorothy, Margaret, Verna, and Florence.

A funeral was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Nelson-House Funeral Homes Martin Chapel in Chesaning with Nancy Steele officiating. Burial followed at Ridge Road Cemetery in Oakley.
