On Friday, March 3, students at St. Charles Elementary School celebrated the district’s 19th year of Read Across America. Each classroom sets a schedule to have readers read at 15 minute increments. Many guests attend to read to the children. Some of the readers this year included Lou E Loon, James Cahilellis from the Loons organization. Senator Ken Horn, high school Students dressed as characters, as well as representatives from the band, and athletics. Shelley Slivinski, Melanie Bryce, school board members, Hunter Koch and Danielle, and Stacey Klump, and daughter Lauren, high school principal Robert Paris, Elementary Principal Mark Benson and son Matt, high school secretary Staci Salyers, mother and eye doctor Autumn Wicke, retired teacher Sharon Hosier, Northwood cheerleader Miranda Root, athletic director Leon Larsen, high school teacher and mom Fran Hunt, and college student Shelby Nelson all took time to read to students. The day celebrates the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel, known as Dr. Seuss, and is a day to emphasis to students the importance of reading. (Courtesy Photos)
