GOVERNMENT MEETINGS

• MAPLE GROVE TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, in the township hall, 17010 Lincoln Road.

• MONTROSE TOWNSHIP BOARD OF TRUSTEES will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21 in the Township Hall, 139 S. Saginaw.

• CHESANING VILLAGE COUNCIL will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, in the council chambers at the village office, 1100 W. Broad Street.

CLUBS AND CIVIC GROUPS

•The SHIAWASSEE QUILTERS meet on the third Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Owosso Senior Center, 300 N. Washington St. Some of their activities include making charity quilts, quilt speakers, trunk shows, round robins, mystery quilts, prizes, free fat quarters, and tips of the months.

• The TAYMOUTH TOWNSHIP HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION meets on the third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Taymouth Township Library, 2361 E. Burt Road, Burt.

• The SHIAWASSEE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY will meet on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. at the museum/archive building at the corner of N. M-52 and Wilkinson Road, Owosso. The speaker will be Len Thomas, of Swartz Creek, on “What Do We Do With All of Grandma’s Stuff?” Collections of families’ stuff passed down for years include many treasured items. Some are valuable, and some are just items with good family memories. Tips will be offered for families to consider in dealing with items. The public is invited to attend, and light refreshments will follow. The building is handicap accessible.

SUPPORT GROUPS

• The Memorial Healthcare free DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP will meet on the fourth Friday of each month at 1 p.m. at the Durand Senior Center, 8750 Monroe Road, Durand. For more information, call (989) 729-4712 or (800) 206- 8706, ext. 6655.

• The Memorial Healthcare PROSTATE CANCER SUPPORT GROUP meets on the third Monday of the month from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Community Room at the Memorial Cancer Center, 721 N. Shiawassee St., Owosso. For more information, call (989) 729-4786.

FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP

• The Montrose Knights of Columbus Council #8669 will hold a WILD GAME DINNER at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at the K.C. Hall, 400 N. Saginaw St., Montrose. The dinner will feature squirrel stew, fish chowder, baked raccoon, venison stew, buffalo chili, and elk and pheasant gumbo. There will also be desserts, beverages and a 50/50 drawing. Tickets are $15 and available at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m. Proceeds will be donated to the Montrose Community Schools Outdoor Classroom and Nature Reserve. The public is invited to attend. • The Chesaning/Shiawassee River Chapter of Ducks Unlimited will hold its 2017 BANQUET on Friday, March 10 at the Albee Township Community Center, 10645 East Road (M-13), Burt. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets are $80 per couple, $50 per single, $25 per Greenwing. Tickets are pre-sale only and must be purchased by March 3. • The Montrose Eagles Club, 11416 Vienna Road, Montrose, will host BREAKFAST on the fourth Sunday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 4-12, and free for ages 3 and under. For take-outs, call (810) 639-5886.

• The Chesaning Sports Boosters’ 15th annual DINNER DANCE will be held on Saturday, March 18 at the St. Peter Parish Hall. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact Patti at (989) 798-4581.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

• Volunteers are needed to deliver MEALS ON WHEELS for the Chesaning Senior Center from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. weekdays. Times are slightly flexible. Call the center at (989) 845- 6565 or drop in at 218 Church St. between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Ask for Amy.

• Owosso Memorial HealthCare’s Hospice team will be offering a free, three-week VOLUNTEER TRAINING COURSE starting Tuesday, March 7. Training will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m. This course will offer volunteers the opportunity to learn about what hospice is and many other skills, including sensitive communication, infection control, grief and bereavement, and the role of each hospice member involved. Volunteers will meet with all of the hospice team to learn each role and its importance. Volunteers provide companionship and socialize with hospice patients, as well as run patient errands do light housework if needed. The hospice team also has a pet therapy program and flower ministry that volunteers can get involved in. CHURCHES

• Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church (WELS), 16070 W. Brady Road (at the corner of M-57 and S. Hemlock Road) announces a SPECIAL GUEST PREACHER for its services on Sunday,

Feb. 19 at 7:45 and 10:15 a.m. Rev. Doug Weiser, WELS missionary to Nigeria, will preach the sermon in both services. In addition, he will make a presentation about the mission work being conducted in Nigeria during the Bible Education Hour at 9 a.m. All are invited to attend. WELS is the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, a worldwide confessional Lutheran church body with nearly 1,300 congregations in the United States and over 450 congregations in other countries of the world.

ODDS & ENDS

• A free community BEGINNER’S GUITAR CLASS will be held every Tuesday evening at 6:45 p.m. at the Chesaning Seventh Day Adventist Church, 331 S. Clark St. Adults and children are welcome to join. It is recommended a child be at least 9 years old. The size of the guitar and other specifications are important to a child’s success, so for more information, call Kelly Landis at (517) 703-4088.

SCHOOLS

• ST. CHARLES COMMUNITY SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, in the high school library, 881 W. Walnut Street, St. Charles.

• NEW LOTHROP AREA PUBLIC SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, for a regular meeting in the high school library, 9285 Easton Rd., New Lothrop.

FUNDRAISERS

• RE/MAX New Image presents TRIVIA DARE FOR CHILDREN’S MIRACLE NETWORK, a fundraising event, on Friday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Saginaw Eagles Club. It will be a night of trivia with a $500 grand prize and four category winning prizes. The cost is $50 per team of two, with a free appetizer buffet and cash bar. All proceeds will go to the Children’s Miracle Network and Hurley Hospital. For information, call (989) 790-0890.
