Injured firefighter appreciates support

Dear Editor,

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation for the overwhelming support given to me, and the fire department as a whole, during my ongoing recovery from the accident of April 18.

Your generosity has meant a great deal to me and the Chesaning-Brady Fire Department. The outpouring of concern and support has renewed our faith in the importance of our service to the community.

Thank you again on behalf of myself and the Chesaning-Brady Fire Department.

Haughton golf outing was a success

Dear Editor,

We would like to thank everyone who made the Dick Haughton Annual Memorial Golf Scramble possible this year. Friends and relatives traveled from all around to play a fun round of golf or to join us for dinner. Many stayed to tell stories about Dick and there were many laughs.

In Dick’s honor, we are creating a scholarship for a graduating high school golfer. A teen at Crossfit Steel Courage will also receive a sponsorship.

The following either sponsored holes or donated: Kairos Consulting LLC, Fran and Terry Kukulis, Harris Ins., H&R Block, LaClair Sales Inc., Sloan Septic Tank Service, Broad Street Pharmacy, Denny’s Lawn Care, Back Forty, Family Ins. Services, Bunko Girls, It Works, Tom and Cathy Gross, Schultz Country Pharmacy, Gewirtz Hardware, Bob Roy’s Barber Shop, Ace Hardware, Ed Rehmann and Sons, Pintown Lanes, Mel Ervin Ford, Showboat Restaurant, Travis and Jessica Woods, Studio 124, Wally Sierakowski, Red Run Golf Club, and Designs by Bean.

A special thank you also to Tom and Cathy Gross, Steve Schulte, Jan Stoll and Cozy Milbrandt for helping organize the event and to Dean Schirle and the staff at Twin Brooks Golf Course for all their time and effort.

We truly appreciate all your support and hope to see you all again next August. Until then, the main thing is not to get excited!

Fire board offers thanks for golf outing

Dear Editor,

On behalf of the Chesaning-Brady Fire Department and all of the firefighters, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Brian and Carol Amman of the Back Forty Bar and Grille, along with their staff, for sponsoring the benefit golf tournament at Twin Brooks Golf Course on Aug. 22. A donation of over $1,000 was presented to the department and will be put to good use for needed equipment replacement and upgrades. Thanks to Twin Brooks and all who participated as well as individuals and businesses who donated prizes.

We are humbled by this wonderful donation. We appreciate the support of our community by Brian and Carol Amman. We applaud them along with all who participated and made this event possible.

The men and women who serve the Chesaning-Brady area through the local fire department are deeply grateful.

Hunter safety class was a success

Dear Editor,

Just recently, the St. Charles Wolverine Sportsmen’s Club completed a very successful hunter safety class with 44 students taking our class.

We had 25 students get 100 percent on the test with 10 more students getting 98 percent.

Our average score for the 44 tests was 97.682 percent.

Congratulations to Elizabeth Adelberg who was selected as our top student and received a gun cleaning kit.
