Book Discussion Group: Our selection for the September book discussion is Leisure Seekers by Michael Zadorian. Stop by the library and pick up a copy then join us on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. for discussion and refreshments.

Story Hour: We are pleased to announce that Janet Godfrey will be returning this September to lead our youngest readers in story time. The program includes stories, songs, crafts and snacks. The class will be held on Tuesday mornings at starting Sept. 15 at 10:30 a.m. Registration is required and the class is limited to 10 children.

Chesaning History Books: We still have a few copies of the following books for sale: The Chesaning Murder, Chesaning Showboat, A Summertime Classic, and Chesaning Illustrated. Stop in and purchase your copy!

Fall Activities: Kids/Teens game day will be held the first Saturday of the month. In-stitches Knitting and Crochet Club will be held on the second Saturday of each month. The third Saturday is reserved for Kids/ Teens craft day.

Tech Time: Mondays at 1 p.m. Ethan is ready to help with all your technical needs.

The St. Charles District Library Board will The Library would like to introduce our new Children’s Librarian, Nick Hare. Please stop by to meet Nick and join us in welcoming him to the library.

The library has two new AWE Early Literacy Stations designed specifically for our youngest patrons ages 2-8. The fun, interactive and engaging content spans all seven curricular areas: math, science and nature, social studies and geography, reading, art and music, writing and computer skills, and reference. Thank you to the Estate of Josephine Manzoni for making our AWE Computers possible!

The Library will be closed on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7.

The Book Discussion Group will meet on Monday, Sept. 14, at 6 p.m. to discuss The Whole Golden World by Kristina Riggle. Seventeen-year-old Morgan Monetti shocks her parents and her community with one simple act: She chooses to stand by the man everyone else believes has exploited her – popular high school teacher TJ Hill. Through the perspectives of Morgan, her mother, and TJ’s wife, Riggle navigates the precarious territory between childhood and adulthood, raising questions about love and manipulation, marriage and motherhood, consent and responsibility.

Our School Year hours begin Sept. 8. We will be open to the public: Monday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.

We are constantly adding books to our collection. Come in and check them out! We serve Chapin and Marion Townships, along with Gratiot County. Stop in and get a library card. They are free and give you access to hundreds of print books, library inter-loans and e-books. We also have a variety of books and magazines for you to enjoy at the library.
