Calling all Friends! We are in great need of “new friends” here at River Rapids. We will be holding a Friends of the Library meeting on Sept. 17 at 6 p.m. This meeting will be held prior to our monthly book discussion, and officers will be elected. Refreshments will be offered.

Book Discussion Group: Our selection for September book discussion is Best Kept Secret by Amy Hatvany. Stop by the library and pick up a copy and join us on Wednesday, Sept. 17, for discussion and refreshments!

Fall Programs Begin: We will be offering the following programs: Teen Activity the first Saturday of each month; In-Stitches knitting club on the second Saturday of each month; and the Lego club on the third Saturday. All programs begin at 1 p.m.

Story Hour: Fall story hour will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 10:30 a.m. Mrs. Janet Godfrey will be heading our program this year. Classes are limited to 10 children.

Author Visit: Author Christine Pechacek will be visiting River Rapids on Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. Christine began writing as a way to express her emotions, thoughts and ideas. Her first book, If I Wanted A Trip Through Hell, I Would Have Bought My Own Ticket, grew out of a desire to leave her children and grandchildren a legacy of who she was and why. Christine’s writing is personal, and at times, intimate, opening up for the reader a window into a childhood both tragic and funny. Please join us for this enlightening event and learn how to preserve your own legacy.
